The passport obligation has no turnover or headcount threshold and binds whoever places the battery on the EU market, wherever the company is based. Every individual battery needs its own passport and identifier, not the model; it is reached by a QR code on the battery, stays online across the battery lifetime and at least ten years after the last unit was placed on the market, and carries 71 official EU data points across three access levels (public, legitimate interest, market surveillance). Without a compliant passport the battery may not be placed on the market, which acts as an EU-wide sales ban. The tool is free, needs no sign-up, stores no answers and returns a PDF report.
