Use case · Industrial batteries

The battery passport for complex bills of material.

UPS, intralogistics, AGV, stationary storage building blocks. Industrial batteries above 2 kWh become passport-mandatory from 18 February 2027 — with deep BOM, Annex X and carbon footprint declaration. Batteriepasswerk turns that complexity into a system.

Reality

Six topics that cost time in an industrial portfolio.

01
Bills of material across three to five tiers

Cells, BMS, housings, thermal system, connectors — and supply chains behind them. Excel is not a tool here, it's a trap.

02
Compliance documents in silos

Datasheets in PDF, material declarations in SharePoint, certificates in inboxes. Reproducibility under audit pressure: close to zero.

03
Annex X needs tier-2/-3 data

Due diligence doesn't end at the tier-1 supplier — it demands traceable origin, documented risk analysis and reporting duties.

04
Multiple regimes in parallel

EU Battery Regulation, sector-specific standards, national recycling rules. One data trunk must serve them all.

05
Long model lifecycles

Industrial batteries are sold and operated for 10–20 years. The passport must stay version-stable and revision-current.

06
Passport for authority, recycler, customer

Role-based access is not optional — the passport shows each role exactly what they may see.

Obligations from 2023/1542

What the regulation requires from industrial-battery placers on the market.

Annex XIII · DIN DKE SPEC 99100

Passport > 2 kWh

Unique identifier, QR per unit, mandatory fields per Annex XIII. Applies to every industrial battery above 2 kWh placed on the market.

Deadline 18.02.2027
Annex X

Supply-chain due diligence

Risk-based due diligence for lithium, nickel, cobalt and natural graphite. Documentation duties reach tier 2/3.

Deadline 18.08.2027
Annex VIII

Carbon-footprint declaration

LCA value per functional unit, performance class, annual update. Structured in the passport.

BOM & compliance

One BOM, all suppliers, one passport — with status per mandatory field.

Industrial batteries have complex bills of material with data from three to five supplier tiers. Batteriepasswerk models the BOM as a tree, shows missing fields in real time and collects them via supplier self-service.

InheritanceFields from cells, BMS and housing flow into every pack passport — no double handling.
Self-serviceSuppliers fill missing data via a one-time link — without their own account.
ValidationValidation rules warn before a passport with critically missing fields is published.
How we help

Three building blocks that work unusually fast in an industrial portfolio.

BOM model with inheritance

Bills of material at any depth. Data flows from supplier material position via component into the final pack passport — no double handling.

Supplier links instead of spreadsheet ping-pong

You generate a link per material position; the supplier fills missing data without an account. Inputs are validated and adopted.

Validation & Annex-X workflow

Validation rules per mandatory field, risk indicators for Annex X, documented measures. An audit trail that holds up before an authority.

Recommended configuration

For industrial batteries: Pro or Scale.

Deep BOM, several suppliers, audit duties — the Pro tier covers it. With API/ERP integration and tier-2/-3 depth, Scale with SLA and priority is the clean choice.

FAQ · Industrial batteries

What industrial manufacturers ask most.

Industrial batteries with a rated capacity above 2 kWh become passport-mandatory from 18.02.2027. That covers UPS modules, intralogistics batteries, AGV/AMR packs, stationary storage building blocks and commercial backup batteries.
From 18.08.2027 supply-chain due-diligence duties apply for lithium, nickel, cobalt and natural graphite. That covers risk analysis, mitigation measures and reporting — documented in the passport and version-stable.
Via supplier self-service. You generate a link per material position, the supplier fills the missing data — without their own account. Inputs are validated and adopted into the passport.
Those are not passport-mandatory. Other obligations of the regulation — conformity declaration, marking, collection and take-back — still apply. We model the corresponding documentation as well.
